As of 2025, significant updates to Ontario’s Assistive Devices Program (ADP) are reshaping how health care professionals and clinics interact with the system—particularly around attestation requirements and documentation standards. These changes are more than procedural; they reflect a broader movement toward accountability, patient safety, and audit readiness in the delivery of assistive devices and support services.

What is the Assistive Devices Program (ADP)?

The Assistive Devices Program is a government-funded initiative that helps Ontario residents with long-term physical disabilities access customized medical equipment and supplies. ADP covers up to 75% of the cost of approved devices, with patients responsible for the remaining 25%, unless additional funding is secured through other organizations.

Commonly Covered Devices in Our Sector Include:

Repairs and Replacements

ADP does not cover regular maintenance or repair costs. However, if a device is no longer under warranty, no longer functioning, and cannot be repaired at reasonable cost, a replacement may qualify for additional funding if the individual’s condition still meets program criteria.
